A look at Mary Shelley (M)
Mary Shelley lived an extraordinary life not only because of her writing but also because of her love for the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. She fell in love with the poet when she was just 16 and ran away with him on foot and on mules through France to Switzerland. Their time together was difficult not only because he was married with a little son at the time and exacerbated through his inability to conserve his finances as they sunk into poverty. Mary lost a child to pneumonia when she, Percy and her half-sister Claire Clairmont raced through the rain and fog to evade the clutches of creditors. Continue reading

Kyneton and Eaglehawk scored vital late season wins on Saturday with wins over challengers Gisborne and Golden Square respectively. A one-point last-gasp win to the Tigers at the Kyneton Showgrounds lifted them back to third spot on the ladder. Continue reading
WAFL round 16…

There was movement in the five after round 16 of the WAFL with West Perth jumping into second place while Claremont and Peel both moved past East Perth who last week looked like the next big thing. Perth didn’t go anywhere but tightened their grip on fourth place with their third win in a row. Continue reading

These are interesting times in the WAFL. The alignment between East Perth and West Coast will finish at the end of the season, West Perth is broke, there’s talk of mergers but best of all the Perth Demons are playing the kind of footy that might just mean they’ll participate in the finals for the first time since 1997.
