In a big weekend of footy in the West there were a few nods to the past:
• At Bassendean Oval Swan Districts celebrated the 1961 premiership. As part of the fun the umpires dressed in 1960s – and I swear they did look great (as Bob Dylan kinda said in Joey).
• East Fremantle pulled off the kind of result that was customary back when they were good.
• Fremantle won a derby.
A later grand final, a settled five, revised fixtures and a fight for the top three, that’s the WAFL story as we head to round 19. Continue reading
