Bulldogs tame the Lions

SFFC120

The Bulldogs are looking good in their big year.

When Subiaco kicked the first three goals at Leederville Oval against top team South Fremantle it seemed that despite the strange season the WAFL order was the still the same. However the Bulldogs struggled back into the game, evened it up and then ran away from the Lions as no team has for years.

Zac Strom was brilliant for South both during the struggling time and the romp in the last quarter – early he was in his new role as tall wingman and then he went into the ruck after Brock Higgins was injured. Haiden Schloithe, Jake Florenca and Kade Stewart got on top in the midfield and Jimmy Miller was useful in defence, attack and the ruck.

The Subiaco line-up doesn’t look much like the one that dominated the competition and despite playing some good football they looked a bit ragged. Lachlan Delahunty did his best to keep them in the game.

In the Perth derby the Falcons were in charge all day against the plucky Royals. Michael Lourey kicked four goals for West Perth.

At Claremont Oval Peel took it up to Claremont but faded in the last quarter while it was a thriller at East Fremantle Oval where Perth maintained their unbeaten run.

South Fremantle 15.7 (97) Subiaco 7.5 (47)

West Perth 12.9 (81) East Perth 8.1 (49)

Claremont 8.10 (58) Peel 5.5 (35)

Perth 10.4 (64) East Fremantle 8.10 (58)

Ladder: South Fremantle 16; West Perth 12; Claremont 12; Perth 12; East Perth 4; Subiaco 4; East Fremantle 4; Swan Districts 0; Peel 0.
