Cranbourne Eagles coach Mark Goodrick was a little concerned that his players might use all their energy warming up before their FIDA Division 3 home game against Ringwood, as they had a bit of time between team photos and the first bounce.
“I need not have worried,” he said afterwards.” It was evident that we had come to play football this week and soon the scoreboard was ticking over. Everyone was contributing to the teamwork in their own way.
“We had multiple goal kickers but more impressive was the multiple passages of teamwork and endeavour that lead to these goals.”
With the Ringwood Spiders light on numbers a few Cranbourne players generously turned their jumpers inside out and played part of the game for the opposition.
“Buddy kicked a nice goal for Ringwood and nearly followed it up with another. Ricky in the third just missed a couple of majors while playing for Ringwood and then finished his day off by kicking a nice goal for us in the last.”
Ringwood Spiders’ Clinton Fullgrabe was very pleased with his team’s efforts. “Though down on numbers the guys played hard and did their best to share the ball around and have a go,” he said. “Thanks to Cranbourne for hosting the game and for lending us a few players.”
