WAFL round 11
It was another horrible Saturday in Perth. Peel stayed in touch with the five with a strong win at Lathlain Park over Perth marred by another injury to Harley Bennell. The Thunder kicked 10 goals to four after quarter time in their best performance of the year. Bailey Banfield and Zac Merrett were strong for Peel and Matthew Taylor had a good game for the Demons.

The big news was at East Fremantle Oval in the early game, the televised game, where Nic Naitanui made his return to football. He looked pretty good too – we won’t say too much about it here, the book Comeback will be released tomorrow. Fellow big time Eagle Tom Barrass played strongly but hurt himself in the last quarter. Nick Reid kicked four goals for West Coast. The Sharks were outclassed but plucky – Ambrose Ryan kicked all of his team’s four goals.
West Coast 15.15 (105) East Fremantle 4.9 (33)
In the meeting of the top two at Fremantle Oval Subiaco proved far too strong leading all day and winning by 33 points. Jordan Lockyer was excellent in defence and Ryan Borchet kicked three goals. Zac Strom stood up for the Bulldogs.
Subiaco 13.9 (87) South Fremantle 8.6 (54)
At Claremont Oval the Tigers didn’t give the Royals a look in. Defenders Tom Ledger and Dylan Smallwood were impressive and Tom Lee kicked three goals. Joel Houghton kicked three of East Perth’s four goals.
Claremont 12.11 (83) East Perth 4.7 (31)
At Bassendean West Perth put in a powerful displayed highlighted by Tyler Keitel who was excellent in the ruck and kicked two goals. Keegan Knott kicked four goals and the kicking of Andrew Strijk (three goals) was a highlight in difficult conditions. Tony Notte was again outstanding for Swans.
