Subi win again

Kyal Horsley at Bassendean in 2018. He looks pretty much the same this year but wears a different number.

Moments before three quarter time at Bassendean Oval Swans led by 22 points. Subi kicked a goal after the siren and 5.6 to 0.2 in the last quarter to make it 27 wins in a row. Josh Deluca was good all day for the Lions while Kyal Horsley and Leigh Kitchen led the fightback. Tony Notte was magnificent for Swan Districts especially as his team crumbled in the last quarter.

Subiaco 11.13 (79) Swan Districts 9.7 (61)

There wasn’t much scoring at Lathlain Park but Perth did enough of it to win again. Michael Bennell kicked four goals and defenders Michael Sinclair and Clayton Giblett were solid. Claremont’s 5.13 may tell part of their story – Anton Hamp had a big game in defence.

Perth 8.9 (57) Claremont 5.13 (43)

Haiden Schloithe and Jacob Dragovich were the midfield starts for South Fremantle and Mason Shaw kicked six goals as they thrashed the up and down Eagles.

South Fremantle 20.11 (131) West Coast 9.18 (72)

Conor Blakely’s effort for Peel was the highlight of the home team’s 77-point win over East Perth. Blair Bell was strong again and kicked three goals.

Peel 19.11 (125) East Perth 7.6 (48)

Someone was going to have their first win of the season at East Fremantle Oval and for a while it was touch and go. West Perth kicked four goals to one in the last quarter. Star midfielders Shane Nelson and Aaron Black led the way for the Falcons. Luke Strnadica had his best game for the Sharks.

West Perth 13.9 (87) East Fremantle 9.7 (61)

Ladder: Subiaco 20; Perth 20; South Fremantle 16; Claremont 12; Peel 12; West Coast 8; Swan Districts 4; West Perth 4; East Perth 4; East Fremantle 0.

Next Sunday it’s the WAFL vs the SANFL at Perth Stadium as a curtain raiser to the AFL game between Fremantle and Richmond.
