Some notes about the 2017 best and fairest and fairest and best…

• Seven club champions have played for another AFL club: Gary Ablett, Patrick Dangerfield, Shaun Higgins, Bradley Hill, Tom Mitchell, Paddy Ryder and Elliot Yeo.
• Of the 181 players listed below in the top 10 of their clubs (Brisbane had a dead-heat for 10th) 58 have played for at least one other AFL club. Collingwood and Geelong has done best with their imports with five of the top 10 coming from other clubs followed by Carlton, GWS, Hawthorn, Melbourne with four; Adelaide, Brisbane, Fremantle, Gold Coast, Port Adelaide, Richmond, St Kilda, West Coast (three); Essendon, North Melbourne, Sydney, Western Bulldogs (two).
• Hawthorn is the best club from which to get players – by pinching them or receiving them as donations. Eight former Hawks finished in the top 10 of voting at other clubs in 2017. Carlton provided seven; Adelaide, GWS, Western Bulldogs (five); Brisbane, Essendon, Gold Coast (four); Collingwood, Geelong, Melbourne, St Kilda (three); Essendon, Fremantle, Sydney (two); Port Adelaide, West Coast (one) while no former North Melbourne or Richmond players had top 10 success at other clubs in 2017.
• The only captain not to finish in his club’s top 10 was Bob Murphy. The only captain to win was Marc Murphy.
