I like Sports Tonight on 6PR. Mark me down as a regular listener.
On Monday night there was plenty of talk about the AFL’s decision to play games on Good Friday.
Host Karl Langdon has long been a disciple of Good Friday footy and he got on a roll when discussion turned to who should play and where the games should be played.
Karl reckons there’s no reason why Good Friday games should be played in Victoria. In fact – he suggested – there could be more than one game some years depending upon what day of the week Good Friday should happen to fall.
I believe the AFL is proposing that from 2015 Good Friday fall on nine consecutive days each year so that there can be nine Good Friday matches (sorry, blockbusters), regardless of the actual day of the week. This is a precursor to an AFL season in which all games, from game 1 round 1 to the Grand Final, will be played on consecutive days.
Brilliant. Missed that one tonight. Very happy to see the Not Fucking Fish Again Friday game come to pass though. Slap in the face for Andy who no doubt timed his exit perfectly for the then impending ASADA announcements. Good to see the new boy getting an early one in.
