Nick's looking, listening... Lots...
I BOUGHT two CDs only in 2009, a signed copy of the Rowland Howard CD, he has got liver cancer so…, and a two CD/one DVD of the Flaming Lips, which came in a hair/fur covered box.
Otherwise I downloaded lots of music by individual songs and by albums. One site I use sells albums for about 50c…
Here is some of the music that caught my ear in 2009 not all released though in 2009…)

Live Music.
Steve Kilbey at the Fly By Night; brilliant. The Blackeyed Susans at the Fly By Night, also brilliant. I saw Black Mountain as part of the Perth Festival but as I had a morphine shot in the bum that morning but was still in a great deal of pain, I can’t remember much of it.
Movies
Because I’m not flying much these days I see fewer movies. I can recall seeing three movies at the cinema – The Baader Meinhof Complex, One Fast Move or I'm Gone – Kerouac's Big Sur, and Bronson – don’t take gentle souls to the latter. On DVD I saw a film I had wanted to see in 2008 but which didn’t, as far as I could tell, play at the cinemas in WA, The Thrilla in Manila. At last Joe gets a bit of recognition and dignity and Ali’s PR bubble is deflated a tad.
Best Twitter ‘writer’
Dr Samuel Johnson.
For Slugabeds & Foreigners who shall not buy the GUARDIAN News-paper, herewith my Review of the Year http://sn.im/trbpz
A novel worth reading
The Death Of Bunny Munro by Nick Cave. Don’t lend it to the gentle souls that you didn’t take to see Bronson.
Local (WA) disappointment of the year
Labor and its antediluvian approach to extended trading hours

Ersatz
No Fall released in 09, nor Mr Cope. It's been very hard. However one can still get one's fill of discordant noise if one looks hard enough.
Methinks Messrs MES and Cope are at 52 (like myself) slowing down? Perhaps that is a good thing?

First he tries to trick us into thinking this is a Nick Gye impersonator by not including any Julian Cope, but closer inspection reveals a Yo La Tengo inclusion. If you know what is good for you don't listen to any of these songs. They lead to madness.
Editor's note: Nothing by The Call either. Probably isn't him.
