WAFL  vs SANFL...

WA make a point

THE surface at Leederville Oval was soggy and only a couple of thousand turned up but the WAFL vs SANFL game was a thriller.
The locals began best but then full forward Brant Chambers took over. He kicked three and set up another to give SA a nine-point lead at the first break.
WA's 12-point half time lead after kicking with the breeze was the biggest break in the game as the teams slugged it out.
The lasting memory of this game will be the performance of 20-year-old Lewis Jetta from Swan Districts. He kicked two goals in the first quarter and a bounced through an across the body snap from well outside 50 in last quarter that won the game. Jetta has astounding pace and kicks beautifully.
Full forward Brent LeCras won the Simpson Medal as WA's best player after an enterprising display that netted three goals. Experienced players Peter Bell, Jeff Farmer, Luke Webster and Toby McGrath also made significant contributions for the home team. Trevor Oliver provided good run from defence and Kyle Hardingham did a good job on Chambers when moved onto him. Jaymie Graham played well in the ruck and provided good support in defence.
Captain Jade Sheedy was SA's best player and awarded the Fos Williams Medal. Chambers finished with five goals and Craig Evans kicked three.

WAFL 12.10 (82) SANFL 12.9 (81).
