WAFL round one... ALL THE RESULTS...

WHY would a footballer need to extend both arms to his full wingspan and head towards the turf during a game? A dive, you suggest. Well South Fremantle's Andrew McCarrey did it twice at Fremantle Oval in the first quarter of the first game of the first round of the 2010 WAFL season.
The AFL came out strongly against diving in the lead-up to the new season, even threatening suspensions for those who take the Italian soccer team path. So how did WAFL umpires respond to the ex-Shark's extravagance? You guessed it. Two free kicks and two goals.
Did it have an impact on the game?
South Fremante held on to win by four points.
South Fremantle 15.7 (97) East Perth 13.15 (93). Ryan Murphy kicked five goals for the Bulldogs, Kris Miller's incredible form from 2009 continued and the Hams twin was good and so was the other one. Michael Swan kicked three goals for the Royals, Zac Clarke was good in ruck and Craig Wulff almost got his team over the line.

West Perth 20.13 (133) Swan Districts 11.13 (79). Swans gave a yelp in the second quarter and looked set to make a game of it but they didn't. Anthony Tsalikis kicked four goals and Jason Salecic three for the Falcons and Matt Guadagnin was outstanding. Clinton Garlett impressed on debut for Swans – look out for fancy footwork as his finds his feet – Tim Geappen kicked three goals.

East Fremantle 13.12 (90) Perth 13.9 (87). Eagles draft pick Koby Stevens kicked the winning goal on debut in the WAFL, Mark McGough was in Anzac Medal form and Steven Dodd was cool in defence. Steven Armstrong kicked three goals for the Demons and Ross Young showed Sandover Medal form.

Claremont 27.13 (175) Peel 9.11 (65). Want to bet against the Thunder taking out the wooden spoon? Luke Blackwell and Andrew Browne controlled the midfield for the Tigers, Beau Wilkes kicked five goals and Dockers draft pick Nat Fyfe got four on his senior debut.  Peel had a handy lead during the first quarter.
